Stress homogenization is achieved throughout Mubea's fiber-composite coil springs that are made via a new coiling program and a high-performance production process. The process includes material surface optimization and produces an approximate 10% further reduction in mass and construction space or height. This evolution of the Mubea cold-form technology results in a reduced spring height through a lower number of coils, mass reductions of up to 2 kg (4.4 lb) per vehicle, and an improved robustness because of reduced stress in the rolling-off area. The future fiber-composite spring achieves a 50% mass reduction compared to one made of steel for an average potential mass savings per vehicle of 5 kg (11 lb).
